Transition Area Info

Bike Check In

All events at the Kerrville Triathlon Festival will use a two transition area format. T1 (swim to bike) and T2 (bike to run) are in different locations approximately 2 miles apart. Participants will ride their bicycles during the event from T1 after the swim to T2, where they will begin the run. After packet pick-up there is MANDATORY bike check-in and run bag drop. This will require a trip to T1 with your bike and a trip to T2 to drop your run bag. To enter the transition area each athlete must have their race number affixed to their bike and their athlete wristband on their wrist.

Location of Transitions

T1
In the grass behind SouthStar Bank, across the street from Inn of the Hills –  1001 Junction Hwy, Kerrville, TX 78028

T2
Louis Hays Park
202 Thompson Dr, Kerrville, TX 78028

T1:

Body Marking
Each participant has been provided with temporary tattoos with your race numbers to wear during the race. Adhere the tattoos on the top of oneh arm and above one knee. On race day, participants must be body marked before entering transition.

Racking Your Bike
Transition will have racks assigned to each age group in T1. It is open racking within your age group. In T2, racks are set up by race number. You must be body marked and wearing your athlete wristband before you enter transition.

Morning Bags
After the swim, we will transport all of your gear from T1 to T2, so that all of your belongings are in T2 after the race. You will drop your Dry Clothes Bag off at the designated location outside of T1. You will leave your bike bag on the ground at your transition spot. Everything must be inside the bag, items that are outside the bag will not be brought to T2 and are at risk of being lost.

T2

Hanging Your Run Bag
Racks are by distance and Age Group. You will tie your run bag to the rack, no more than 8 bags per rack. Everything must stay inside the bag and nothing can be left of the ground. Leave even spacing, knowing that you will be needing to fit 8 bikes on to the rack when you come in from the bike course.

Reclaiming Your Other Gear Bags
Your bags will be brought to T2 from T1 and organized by your bib number. Communicate with the volunteers to reclaim your gear bag, you will need to have your bib that matches the bags. It is important that you have clearly marked your bags with the stickers provided.

Bike Check-Out
Bikes will not be allowed out of Transition until the final cyclist has completed the bike course. It will be announced when transition is open for bike check out. You will need to have your wristband on to enter transition and have the matching number to the bike to take it out. Participants will be allowed back into transition after they finish, but bikes may not be removed from the racks. Please be courteous to your fellow participants.

Relay team members will wait inside the transition area within a specified Relay Corral to exchange the timing chip. Relays will have one chip assigned for the whole group.

Aquabike participants will finish the bike portion, rack their bike and make their way through the finish chute to receive their medal and finish picture.  Timing for Aquabike stops when they cross the line at T2 (not the finish line chute.)

Spectators are not allowed in transition.  You must be a registered participant or transition volunteer in order to gain access into the transition area.
